Homemade Authentic Chai Recipe
Chai actually means tea. So, when you say chai tea, you are saying tea tea :) But most of the chai that people love is Masala Chai, which is basically a spiced tea. Masala means mix of spices. We love our daily hit of homemade, authentic Masala Chai. The hard part is figuring out the blend, which spices to use and how much. We make it easy for you by creating amazing chai blends, you can choose from 9 different flavors depending on your preference. Here, we will be brewing the 10 Spice Masala Chai, which is a robust sweet & spicy blend of organic black Assam tea and 10 whole spices. It is so simple to make, if you can boil pasta, you can most definitely make a healthy and delicious brew of Leely home made Chai!
Here are instructions on how to make 1 serving. Please note, many store bought almond milks do not heat up well on the stove as it gets bitter. Unless it is a homemade almond milk or the Joi almond paste, we do not recommend almond milk. Dairy, Soy and Oat milks work the best! Enjoy!
Oh, this is now my go to afternoon dessert with a little bit of a pick me up from the Chai! It's so easy to make that it hardly needs a recipe. It is definitely a delicious recipe that you need only a little bit of as it hits the spot.
WHAT IS AN AFFOGATO?
An Affogato is an Italian coffee-based dessert. Italians have enjoyed it for years as an after meal dessert and Starbucks popularized it with their Frappuccinos. The traditional Affogato uses vanilla ice cream drenched with some good quality freshly brewed espresso. The word Affogato means “drowned” in Italian.
This is a Chai version of the Italian Affogato dessert and I have to say it is oh so good and so easy to make! Check out the instructions below:
HOW TO MAKE AN AFFOGATO CHAI DESSERT

Benefits of Lemongrass
What is it?
A tall plant, lemongrass has a fresh, invigorating and lemony aroma and citrus flavor. Lemongrass is very common in Thai cooking. One way we like to use lemongrass is in our tea. Drinking our 9 Spice Zesty Citrus Chai or 8 Spice Pink Peppercorn Chai may deliver some of these potential health benefits as it contains lemongrass in its blend. Check out all the amazing benefits of lemongrass:
1) High in Antioxidants.
Lemongrass contains several antioxidants, which are super beneficial to your health. What exactly are antioxidants? Antioxidants are compounds that inhibit oxidation. Oxidation is a chemical reaction that can produce free radicals, thereby leading to chain reactions that may damage the cells of organisms. We certainly do not want that!
2) Lemongrass has antimicrobial properties
The antimicrobial properties in lemongrass may help treat oral infections and cavities.
3) Lemongrass has anti-inflammatory properties
When there is too much inflammation in your body, this can lead to many diseases. According to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, two of the main compounds in lemongrass, citral and geranial, are thought to be responsible for its anti-inflammatory benefits.
4) It may reduce your cancer risk
The following is a quote from Healthline.com:
“The citral in lemongrass is also thought to have potent anticancer abilities against some cancer cell lines. Several components of lemongrass help fight cancer. This occurs either by causing cell death directly or boosting your immune system so that your body is better able to fight-off cancer on its own. Lemongrass tea is sometimes used as an adjuvant therapy during chemotherapy and radiation. It should only be used under the guidance of an oncologist.
5) Healthy Digestion
Lemongrass can ease stomach pain, cramping and digestive issues
6) Help Regulate Cholesterol
Studies show lemongrass can help lower cholesterol, depending on the dose of lemongrass. High cholesterol may increase your risk of heart attack or stroke.
7) Relieve Symptoms of PMS
Lemongrass is a natural remedy for menstrual cramps, bloating and hot flashes
At Bhoomi Chai, we have lemongrass in two amazingly invigorating chai blends:
9 Spice Zesty Citrus Chai
8 Spice Pink Peppercorn Chai
We also have lemongrass that can be purchased as a stand alone in bulk packages for you to make your own tea at home or cook with. Check out our lemongrass bulk here. Enjoy!
